Q: Can I cancel my order for baby chicks?
A: Yes, we will be happy to cancel an order provided your scheduled shipping date is more than 2 weeks away. As you remember from checkout, baby chick orders cannot be cancelled (or changed) within two weeks of their scheduled ship date.

The reason we require this notice is that, in many cases, the shipping schedule must be shuffled so the baby chicks we were hatching for you can find new chicken mommies or daddies in time to adopt them when they hatch. In addition we need to be absolutely sure that the shipment has been cancelled in our system because we do NOT want a single mistake to occur in which baby chicks are sent to Post Offices where they will never be picked up. The fee covers the work done to complete your cancellation, make sure your chick shipment is stopped, refund your money, and make your chicks available for adoption again on our website. They need to have homes when they are scheduled to hatch, whether that's three weeks or three months away.

Remember, there are NO exceptions to the two week rule; we love our babies too much. We must have time to try to find someone to adopt the babies you decided you didn’t want. Our priority is the welfare of our chicks! Please do not cancel unless it is an emergency.

In addition, you should be aware that there is a $5 order cancellation fee, as it takes quite a bit of time and effort to make certain all this is taken care of. If you have made any changes to your order after you originally placed it with us, do remember, too, that all order change fees are non-refundable. For all these reasons, it is a good idea to place an order for baby chicks ONLY if you are sure you will not later change your mind, AND if you have already checked to make sure you are legally permitted to keep chickens in your area.

Remember that if you cancel your chick order and later you decide you want them after all, you will have to place a new order (your old one cannot be reinstated), and you may not be able to resume your same ship date. To reiterate, neither the cancellation fee nor any change fees are refundable. They cover the time and effort it takes to do that work for you. If you don't want your birds, and you want to avoid the cancellation/rehoming fee, you can always sell/rehome your birds locally after you receive them. (Of course, you will still need to provide them with proper care in a proper brooder until you have rehomed them.)

If it is a last minute cancellation, we recommend that you phone, since emails can take two business days to come up in the queue to answer. Be sure to have your order number at hand so we can find your order to cancel it.
