Many folks are looking for a larger coop, and The Elizabeth is a great option at a very attractive price! Hand-built with ecologically sustainable, environmentally friendly materials, it has been tested and proven in the harsh winters of Northern Michigan. It will comfortably house 10-12 heavy breed, or 14-15 medium breed chickens in the 34 square foot interior, which comes standard with an easy-to-clean linoleum floor. Included are roosts that provide 16 linear feet of roosting space for your birds, and there is an option to add additional roosts, although you may find that those four included are sufficient. The 34” wide by 47” tall double doors allow you easy access to their food and water and for cleaning.

Shipping note: please select "Ground" and allow 5-6 weeks for your coop to ship.

The 2 X 6 Bump-Out Option increases the square footage to 46 ft! (Including nesting boxes).  Add this option, along with the 15 ft run for your coop to safely house up to 20 chickens!

Built "Green", in the U.S.A. Hand-built by woodworkers in Bay City, Michigan, Green Chicken Coops use responsibly harvested timber from certified ecologically-sustainable, managed forests, and from local storm-damaged trees. The cedar roof and flooring underlayment are all-natural, the plywood is free from any harmful glues or chemicals, and the exterior latex paint is non-toxic.

Designed to stand up in all conditions Over 30 Green Coops were designed and tested in the harshest winter environments of Northern Michigan. The clapboard is made of sturdy 3/4" exterior-grade plywood, versus the 1/4" plywood you'll see on other coops. Cedar shake roof shingles and underlayment protect your flock in any weather and will last decades.

Let The Sun Shine In! Sunshine helps keep your birds and their environment healthy, and The Elizabeth comes standard with two fully functioning windows to help let it shine inside the coop! 16 inches wide and 24 inches tall, these have 19 gauge 1/2" x 1/2" galvanized hardware cloth over the bottom half, as well as regular window screening to prevent predators from getting inside. You decide where they are placed on the coop (with the exception of the wall on which the outside run would be placed) and you can even add more predator-proof windows for an additional charge. The double doors can also be upgraded to feature windows with the predator-proof hardware cloth screen and removable plexiglass inserts. Whether standard or upgraded, it is your choice of where to place the doors – just remember, the chicken door and 16" chicken ladder that are also included will need to go on the wall where the run will go, if you choose to add one.

Outside Run Option Speaking of that A-Frame Run, it is available in a variety of sizes, your choice of 9', 12' or 15' feet long by 8'6" wide. It allows your chickens outdoor access, with all of the benefits that entails, while still keeping them safe from predators. You'll need to choose which wall you want to place the run on, and that is where the chicken door and ladder will also be installed. In snowy areas, you might consider draping a tarp over the run in the wintertime – it will provide ample ground area for your chickens to enjoy, while the snow slides right off of the tarp outside of the run! All runs are made with 1/2" by 1/2", 19 gauge, galvanized hardware cloth, which means only bugs will get in, where they will promptly become free chicken food.

  • No run: Best option if you already have a predator-proof run or intend on free-ranging your flock from sun up to sun down.
  • Standard run 9' long x 8.6" wide, plus area under the house, for a total of 88.5 square feet.
  • Larger run: 12' long x 8.6" wide, plus area under the house, for a total of 114 square feet.
  • Largest run: 15' long x 8'6", plus area under the house, for a total of 139.5 square feet.

Wheels, you ask? Check this out: you can add 12" pneumatic wheels and a handle to this coop to make it super easy to move around your property! When you add this option, a special run panel for the space created by the wheels is included, to help protect your flock.

Keep That Air Moving Adjustable gable vents are also available, these are installed near the peak of the roof and provide greater ventilation to the coop, but can be closed in colder weather. Birds have sensitive respiratory systems, to having flexibility in terms of air flow in your coop is a major plus! You may also upgrade the double doors to feature windows with the predator-proof hardware cloth screen and removable plexiglass inserts.

Where Will They Lay Their Eggs? You have options from which to choose for the nest boxes: the most popular is the twin 3' wide nest boxes, which have hinged doors on the outside of the coop to allow for easy egg collection. These doors are the easiest to open and use. However, if you'd like, you can also opt for a single 6' box.

Let There Be Light If you live in a wintry area, consider the interior light option for just $25 more: put it on in the mornings and evenings to improve winter egg laying. (Keep in mind that any electricity inside a coop is always a fire hazard, and you assume your own risk.)

Which Color Would Your Hens Peck? The Elizabeth comes in your choice of three standard colors: Green, Barn Red, or White. Looking for something to match your house, or just want to jazz it up a bit? Custom paint colors are available at an extra charge. Want to give your flock even fancier digs? Add a custom trim color too!

How Will It Ship? This coop will come flat-packed on two pallets, with all parts labeled and a very clear set of assembly instructions that includes step-by-step photos, and a help line to call in case of questions. Since the coop is very heavy you will need either one very strong person or two people to help unload the pallets from the truck.
