The elegant Hamburgs are petite and active--and they are an old,traditional breed whose origin goes back hundreds of years. In both England and Holland, they were such faithful layers that a common name for them is "the Dutch Everyday Layer."

Our Golden Spangled Hamburgs are new for 2010! They are quite small, nearly on par with bantam breeds. With a golden/mahogany base, each feather is tipped in a cheery black spangle, giving them a polka-dotted appearance. They are high fliers and can jump fences and enclosures! They don't tolerate confinement very well, and are so active they don't make very good lap chickens. However, they eat little to produce their prolific numbers of small to medium white eggs, so they cost less to feed than many other breeds. Their rose comb makes them tolerant of cold, as well. They are wonderful all-around homesteading birds if you have the space, and they rarely go broody.

These gorgeous birds have rose combs, white ear lobes and blue legs. They are excellent small birds for the home flock for those wanting efficient and economical layers. They are also fun, pretty birds to show!

* We can ship as few as three baby chicks! Our minimums are based on your zip code, and how long the USPS tells us it will take for your order to arrive at your post office. The longer they tell us it will take, the higher your minimum. Find out your minimum chick order

* Any order of 15+ chicks ships via USPS Priority Mail service, and 3-14 chicks ship via USPS Express Mail.
