Of all the ornamental chicken breeds, the Silkie Bantam is the most popular and most loved. Can't you tell why? They're the lap dog of the chicken world, complete with hair-like plumage and an incredibly sweet temperament. Silkies were originally bred in China, where they are still kept (and eaten) today. They have black skin and bones and 5 toes instead of the normal 4. In addition, Silkie hens make wonderful mothers and are even known to adopt baby ducks if given the chance! You will get a mix of bearded and non-bearded varieties with your Silkie order.

NOTE: WE CAN SHIP AS FEW AS FIVE BANTAMS, depending on your location. Our minimum orders for bantam babies run between five and ten, for their safety. There is no minimum per breed.

Baby chicks can now be shipped in quantities as small as three, depending
on location (see below). 24 or fewer chicks will ship via USPS Express Mail, and 25 or more via Priority Mail,
on Mondays, but due to hatching availability they might not be shipped right away. You will have the opportunity
to select the shipping date that works best for you, and we will confirm your ship date by email. To be sure
you're going to receive our emails, please add "info@mypetchicken.com" to your safe senders or contacts list.
How to determine the best minimum for you:
Our smallest order size of 3 chicks applies to major cities only, such as Los Angeles, New York,
Chicago, Miami, San Francisco, Boston, Seattle, Portland OR, etc., due to the speed with which
they can be delivered. If you live within 30 minutes of a major city, the best minimum is 5 chicks.
For any town or rural area that is more than 30 minutes from a major city, our minimum is 8 chicks.
This is to protect the chicks due to increased time in transit. If you are ordering Bantams, we
strongly recommend that you add two chicks to any of the above quantities. We love our babies too
much to let anything happen to them!
