We are so excited to be able to offer the beautiful double-laced or "partridge" Barnvelder. These lovely, docile birds are good layers of medium-sized dark brown eggs. Colored eggs are always a more brilliant color early every laying season, and slowly fade as the season progresses. The double lacing mean each brown feather is edged in black, their thin, elegant outlines silhouetted again like an echo, in a decorative double-border. This gives them the appearance of having twice as many feathers as "normal" chickens, and the clean molted feathers are absolutely beautiful for craft projects.

Barnevelders were developed in the town of Barneveld in Holland; the intention was to create a hardy, good layer of deep brown eggs.  Success was met with the Barnevelder! Sweet, quiet, healthy and content birds, they are a joy to own and raise since they are winter hardy and stand confinement well.  They do go broody: when that happens, they make gentle, loving mothers.  These adorable double-laced birds are calm and wonderful!

We guarantee that the fertile hatching eggs you order from us will arrive intact and ready for incubation. If any eggs for which you have paid arrive cracked or broken, contact us within two business days of receiving them with photos of the damage.

IMPORTANT: Receiving unbroken eggs is NOT a guarantee that they will all hatch. Why? Read more, here.

Unfortunately, we are unable ship hatching eggs to Hawaii.
