These beautiful blue fowl originated in Andalusia in Spain, but have long been beloved in the United States. Their delicate, blue-laced plumage makes them a popular bird for show. Shanks and toes are blue, as well. The ideal feather color is slate blue with a narrow lacing of darker blue. The male has a cape of lustrous blue-black, sometimes shading almost to a dove gray. The hens are good layers of large white eggs, and they seldom go broody.

Andalusians deal well with heat, but like other Mediterranean breeds, their large combs can be subject to frostbite. They are active birds, and only somewhat tolerant of confinement. They do better on range. If they must be confined, they should have plenty of room.

A flock of these misty, blue birds decorating your yard is such a lovely sight: when you have a large group of them, it's almost as if fog has taken avian form. You will be proud to own them.

THE COLOR BLUE: Remember: blue does not breed true. Chicks from these eggs will hatch approximately 50% blue, 25% black and  25% splash.

Shipping:  Eggs are shipped via USPS Priority Mail.  No need to choose a faster shipping method besides 'Ground'.  If you'd like eggs shipped via USPS Express Mail, please give us a call!

We guarantee that the fertile hatching eggs you order from us will arrive intact and ready for incubation. If any eggs for which you have paid arrive cracked or broken, contact us within two business days of receiving them with photos of the damage.

IMPORTANT: Receiving unbroken eggs is NOT a guarantee that they will all hatch. Why? Read more, here.

Unfortunately, we are unable ship hatching eggs to Hawaii.
