Anconas are an Italian breed--they are wonderful layers of large white eggs. Similar in temperament to leghorns, they're not usually the best choice for calm and friendly pets, and tend to be nervous around humans. They also need a good amount of space, and their large combs can be susceptible to frostbite in very cold areas.
Nonetheless, if you have the right conditions, adding a few of these mottled black and white beauties to your flock will provide good eye candy, and plenty of delicious eggs!
