Don't have the time, equipment or inclination to care for chicks? Or were you ready for fresh eggs yesterday? This is the ticket! At 6-7 weeks old, these started pullets are ready to go outdoors, with no heat or special care requirements.
Another wonderful benefit is that our juveniles are sexed twice, once at hatch and again at 6 weeks, which reduces your chance of ending up with roosters. Our six-week started pullets are floor-raised and socialized with humans, vaccinated for Marek's disease, and their beaks are intact--we never trim.
Green Queens are super layers of large, green eggs*. This is a
multi-generational, multi-breed cross we have been working on for some
time to produce a large, easygoing, extremely hardy, prolific egg layer.
Most will be bearded; some will have lightly feathered feet and some will even have five toes! Its
plumage color will vary, frequently blue, black and white, and sometimes
are loved for their sweet personalities, hardiness in both the heat and
cold, and for their large eggs in all different shades of green and
blue (a small percentage even lay a light pinkish brown color!). This is
why they've topped the best-seller list every single year since we
started selling chicks in 2007.
We love EEs for the backyard flock because they don't tend to be aggressive with one another like some breeds can be (Rhode Island Reds,
we're looking at you!). They're super friendly, active foragers,
and cold hardy. In their second year and beyond, Easter Eggers are known
to lay extra large
eggs. They rarely can go broody, but are not excessively so. Easter
Eggers are usually
bearded and tend to have slate or willow (blue or green) legs. They are
friendly, and favorites of children, who love their easygoing personalities and to gather colored eggs.
small percentage may lay another egg color, including tinted, brown or
even pinkish. Each hen will give ONE egg color. The egg color will not
change from one egg being laid to another. For example, if your hen
has just laid a green egg, it will lay a green egg its entire life.
All 6-week-old chickens are shipped USPS Express Mail, and are
vaccinated for Marek's. We are unable to ship to Minnesota, Hawaii, and US Territories due to importing regulations in those states.
Please keep your 6-week-olds quarantined from your existing flock for four or more weeks, and take care when introducing them.
