Description:

You may never have even heard of the Golden Cuckoo variety of Marans! This variety is exceedingly rare, and most hatcheries don't even offer them, whether as eggs or day-old chicks. The Cuckoo Marans chicks you find offered at hatcheries are all of the Silver Cuckoo variety...and frankly most hatcheries even consider SILVER Cuckoo Marans to be rare birds.

The beautiful feathers of the Golden Cuckoo are crossed throughout with irregular dark and light golden colored bars, similar in some ways to Crele coloration. We anticipate that these will be hard to keep in stock, so order early to get in line!

Egg color with this variety is dark, but not quite as "chocolaty" as the Black Coppers. Colored eggs are always a more vibrant early every laying season, and slowly fade as the season progresses.
