Quality-Made in America
This chicken coop is handcrafted in Maine from the highest quality materials, with precision and care that will last decades. The coop is made of 1” thick naturally rot resistant Western Red Cedar deck boards. The roof and floor also have a layer of ¼” thick UV resistant HDPE plastic that will never rot or leak. The windows are made of shatterproof polycarbonate, and the gable vents are made of ½” 19-gauge galvanized metal hardware cloth to keep the predators at bay. The stainless steel hardware includes screws, latch supports and a barrel bolt sliding lock. The hinges on the roof, windows and doors are highly durable, weather resistant, plastic living hinges that won’t rot or rust.
Good ventilation is so important for chickens, who are susceptible to respiratory issues. This coop has two gable vents to allow a good cross breeze. But there are also two windows that can be closed over the gable vents when the weather necessitates it.The windows are made of shatter proof plastic that is UV resistant and won't rot or leak. The vents are made of 1/2" 19-gauge galvanized hardware cloth, strong enough to keep predators out.
A Run For Outdoor Playtime
The chicken ladder in this coop is part of the chicken coop floor. The ladder is lowered to the ground with a rope to give your chickens access to the run during the day. After the chickens have retired to the coop, you can pull the ladder up with the rope and secure the floor by tying the rope around a rope latch.
One of the benefits of this coop is that it comes with a covered run area below the coop plus a run extension. Even if you allow your flock to roam free, there will be times when you'll want to keep them in the safety of a confined run. This run is made of western red cedar and 1/2" 19-gauge galvanized hardware cloth. It will keep your chickens contained but for the best predator protection, we recommend you purchase a roll of half-inch hardware cloth at your local hardware and attach it to the entire footprint of your run (including the covered area under the coop), to keep burrowing predators and rodents out, too. The wire can be easily attached to your run using zip ties or a heavy-duty stapler.
Please keep in mind that this chicken coop, just like every coop we sell at My Pet Chicken, is NOT intended for full-time confinement. You will need to provide an outdoor run area in which your hens can spend most of their time--or allow them to free range.
Easy Egg Collection and Cleaning
The top hinged nest box door on the side of the coop will allow you to retrieve your eggs easily. To clean the inside of the coop, simply lift the hinged roof panel and remove the side wall panel. You will then have full access to the coop interior. Use a shop vac or rake and scoop to clean out the bedding and then wipe down the plastic floor.
30 Day Money Back Guarantee!
