Our chicken runs and coops are just plain better!

We've seen spacious walk-in runs on other sites for okay prices, but the wide openings on those runs are easy-in, easy-out for rats, weasels, and snakes.... no wire floor means any predator can dig under easily, and no roof cover exposes the girls in fowl weather! (ha) So we designed the "Hen Pen" modular run to address every major need for poultry keepers.

About the Hen Pen Chicken Run

Brand new! With 32 square feet of space, this run protects your flock while giving them room to stretch their wings. It also makes a great grow-out pen to transition new flock members into your existing flock. (It even works for ducks, geese and rabbits!) Key features:

  • Welded 1/2" x 1/2" wire openings and tight-fitting doors keep out rats, weasels, and snakes.
  • Welded wire underlayment thwarts digging predators (just add shavings or wood chips on top of the wire so it's comfortable underfoot).
  • Made of thick, kiln-dried wood.
  • Each run has two doors that you can place in any location on either side of the run.
  • An optional heavy-duty roof cover will give the flock a place to hang outside even when it's raining or snowing.
  • Modular design means you can buy just one, or connect multiple runs together for even more space.
  • You can attach the Hen Pen Chicken Run to almost any type of chicken coop, including the Clubhouse, and any of our Gambrel Roof chicken coops, or virtually any other wooden coop with minor modifications.
  • Shipment of this chicken coop is limited to the 48 contiguous states only (not Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and the other U.S. territories).
This item is shipped via FedEx. A signature will be required and is unable to be waived.
Please allow up to 2 weeks for your coop to arrive. We will send your tracking number by email as soon as it's available, or you can look for it in the My Account area of our website.

Run, Chicken, Run

Each bird in your flock needs at least ten square feet of space outdoors. This chicken run, like every one we sell at My Pet Chicken, is NOT intended for full-time confinement. The run is convenient when you can't let your flock roam freely, but make sure your flock has several hours per day free-ranging OR you can daisy-chain multiple runs together to create a much larger space that is suitable for full-time confinement. The more run space they have, the happier your flock will be! (Plus, the more you buy, the more you save!)

Predation Prevention

Today's fluffy, fat, slow pet chickens are like sitting ducks! They have no way to protect themselves from predators, so it's the job of the chicken-keeper to make sure they're safe. The Hen Pen chicken run has two heavy-duty barrel bolts on each door. Plus, there's a new security feature! Your purchase now includes, at no extra charge, a half-inch hardware cloth "floor" with zip ties to secure it to your run and keep rodents and digging predators from gaining entry.

Protect Your Run Purchase...

...With a yearly stain or seal. The natural wood material will break down over time. If you do not, you can realistically expect six to eight years' use out of this run. If you keep it in good shape by sealing it annually, you'll have it for many years to come.

Shipping Notes

Shipping is included in the price of your run! Allow up to 2 weeks for arrival. The Hen Pen chicken run comes in two separate boxes. Box 1 is 51" x 28" x 9" and weighs 43 lbs. Box 2 is 38" x 25" x 9" and weighs 28 lbs.

The run is manufactured from Chinese Fir. Please note: we do not have a storefront and orders cannot be picked up from our location. Also, we can only ship within the United States. Shipment of chicken coops is limited to the 48 contiguous states only (not Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and the other U.S. territories).

Damages, Returns & Cancellations

If your run has been significantly damaged in shipment, please report the damages to us within 48 hours of arrival if at all possible. We ask that you send pictures of the damage so we can best determine the next steps to be taken. Please be aware that superficial scratches and dings may occur in the shipping process, and that we will replace or refund you for any broken, missing, or damaged pieces.

If you cancel your order before the run leaves our warehouse, we'll refund you all but a $5 cancellation fee.

If you've changed your mind after your run has shipped, you may return your new, unused, and unassembled run with packaging intact in the original box, within 30 days of receipt. You will receive a full refund, minus your cost to send it back to us as well as a restocking fee of up to 20%. Just notify us and we'll provide return instructions. Once we have received and approved your items for resale, we'll promptly issue a refund.

Assembly Notes

All the hardware is included, plus a screwdriver and awl, and most holes are pre-drilled. Zip ties are included with your purchase to secure the welded wire floor to your Hen Pen Chicken Run, and additional zip ties will be included with the optional Cover to secure it to your Run. A copy of the instructions will be included. With two people, allow approximately 30 minutes to assemble; with just one, allow 45 minutes or so. Hen Pen Run Assembly Instructions

To attach the Hen Pen Chicken Run to your coop or other structure, you may either remove one of the run's panels entirely, and secure that open panel by sinking the screws you removed from the run into your existing structure. If you desire a smaller opening, you may use wire snips to cut a hole of the desired size and shape in the welded wire. We leave the attaching up to you!

Enhancements and Modifications

While we make every effort to ensure the product you purchase meets your expectations, the actual product may differ slightly from images and renderings shown due to enhancements and/or modifications.
