Description:Exclusively ours! We blogged about how much we love our Favaucanas in 2012, and we were shocked by the overwhelming response. Several hundred of you signed up to be notified as soon as we made Favaucanas available for
sale. We've been working on our breeding program ever since, and,
drumroll... Blue Favaucanas are finally here. And these stunning birds are among the varieties Martha Stewart had us deliver to her for her own flock for 2016!
We adore this designer breed for its many wonderful qualities: Extreme docility; sage-green, medium to large
eggs; beautiful little muffs, beards, and lightly feathered feet,
(some with five toes!). They have pea combs and profuse feathering for cold-hardiness. Their slender body size helps with heat-tolerance. Then, of course, their overall appearance, something like a blue hawk, simply turns heads.
PLEASE NOTE: We are hatching both F1 and F2 Favaucanas, which means that about 12% of our Blue Favaucanas will be black, and 12% will be "splash". The rest will be blue. Splash is a very light color, pale blue or white with "splashes" of black and darker blue in the feathers, especially in the wings and tail. Learn more about BBS genetics.
