Day-Old Chicks: Jubilee Orpington
Jubilee Orpington hen Jubilee Orpington chicks
Description:Hail to the Queen! Originating in the UK, Orpingtons have long been an heirloom favorite. They’re big, hardy, friendly, sweet balls of feathers, known to be very good layers, who even lay well in the winter. Now, My Pet Chicken is offering the Jubilee variety of Orpingtons, an exceedingly rare plumage in the United States.
The Jubilee Orpington was so named because it was created for Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee celebration (by the developer of the original Orpington, William Cook). If you’re an anglophile, this is genuinely a must-have chicken! Plus, think of the treasure trove of British and Dickensian names for your Jubilee flock: Lady Bocknell, Prunella Feathers, Dame Featherton, Polly Doodle-doo, Emma Coophouse, Miss Pumblechook, Louisa Chick, Sophy Wattles and more!
