Easy Fill Drinker, two sizes
Easy Fill 6.25 gallon waterer Easy Fill 3.25 gallon waterer
Description:The "Easy Fill" drinkers are by far our favorite "traditional" type chicken waterer on the market! We've been in the poultry business for 10 years now, and we've tried them all. This particular model is incredibly easy to clean, easy to fill, and easy to prevent from spilling during transport. It's designed specifically for kids or folks who have a hard time with twisting action. And there are no difficult tops to unscrew or little caps to keep up with! Thanks to an under-mounted float, the easy fill drinker can be
filled simply by removing the lid and adding water from the top. It doesn't get any easier than that!
When selecting your chicken waterer, there are three important considerations:
- Physical dimensions. Make
sure the waterer you select will work with your chicken setup -- you
obviously don't want to choose something that won't fit through your
coop door, for instance! Complete dimensions are listed below.
- How often you'll need to re-fill the waterer. Each adult chicken will drink about one pint of water or more per day (more during especially hot days), so if you have a flock of 25 chickens and you
plan on having just one 3.25 gallon waterer, you'll need to refill it about once a day, whereas you'd only have to fill the 6.25 gallon waterer once every other a day. With a small flock of 5 chickens, you're looking at (on average) 5 days for the smaller waterer, and 10 days for the larger.
- Adequate access for all birds. In other words,
if you have a large flock but only one, small waterer, there's a
possibility that the chickens lowest on the pecking order could literally be bullied into dehydration--so even if you're willing to fill the waterer very often, you may want to get the larger waterer or provide more than one. Also
consider the size of your flock. If you're planning to have a
mixed flock of both bantams and large fowl (standard) birds, it could be
helpful to have your waterers sitting at different heights, so the smaller
bantams can drink from the lower-sitting waterer.
