Introducing the Tufted Toulouse! They are a calm goose with the same, excellent attributes as the French Toulouse. Toulouse geese have a calm disposition and weigh 15-18 lbs. The females lay 35-50 extra large, white eggs per year, are very fertile, and make good mothers.
Our Toulouse breeding stock was imported from France in 2006. It is not an exhibition Toulouse but rather a very hardy utility goose, which is a direct descendant of breeders in France. Surprisingly some of them hatched with top knots or tufts on their head - much like a Roman Tufted or Tufted Buff. Since then, those with tufts were selected and the Tufted Toulouse strain was created. Their tuft is similar in size to the Roman Tufted or Tufted Buff.
These geese have dark blue/gray to light gray coloring on their necks and their breast color is light gray. They have dark gray coloring on their backs and white abdomens. They have dark brown or hazel eyes, a pale orange bill, and deep reddish orange shanks and feet.
Our geese will fully integrate with all the other breeds that we offer. If you want purebred geese, make sure you separate your geese by breed during the mating season. Please note, about 85% of the Tufted Toulouse goslings hatch with a tuft. Or you can let your geese cross and see what different shapes and colors you will get with their goslings.
