Description:

Exclusively ours! We blogged about how much we love our Favaucanas in 2012, and we were shocked by the overwhelming response. Several hundred of you signed up to be notified as soon as we made Favaucanas available for sale. We've been working on our breeding program ever since, and, drumroll...  Blue Favaucanas are finally here! And these stunning birds are among the varieties Martha Stewart had us deliver to her for her own flock for 2016!

We adore them for their many wonderful qualities: Extreme docility; sage-green, medium to large eggs; beautiful little muffs, beards, and lightly feathered feet, (some with five toes!). They have pea combs and profuse feathering for cold-hardiness. Their slender body size helps with heat-tolerance. Then, of course, their overall appearance, something like a blue hawk, simply turns heads. Favaucanas are truly one-of-a-kind.  Because our Favaucanas are F1 (first generation), there is a 1/16 chance that your Favaucana will not lay a green egg.

PLEASE NOTE:
the color blue does not hatch true in chickens. Blue is a diluting gene for black. So, 50% of our Blue Favaucanas will hatch blue, and 25% will be black. The last 25% will be "splash," having received two diluting genes. Splash is a very light color, pale blue or white with "splashes" of black and darker blue in the feathers, especially in the wings and tail. PLEASE KEEP THIS IN MIND WHEN YOU ORDER! Not all of your blues will actually be blue!
