The breed was developed in Oregon by Dave and Millie Holderread in the late 1970s and introduced in 1984, and our hatchery partner's breeding flock came straight from the Holderreads in 2025.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eDucklings are a warm fawn and buff with golden highlights. As they grow, the drakes develop a chestnut chest, a cream to tan underside and a brownish head with a soft green sheen, while the ducks stay fawn to buff with fine brown penciling and a stripe across the face. Both show a green or brown wing speculum. The color difference makes it easier to tell drakes from ducks early. The breeder reports 165 to 240 eggs a year, and Golden Cascades handle both heat and cold well.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eOur ducks will fully integrate with all the other breeds that we offer.
