We want you to be confident when purchasing at My Pet Chicken, so we've created the comprehensive and fair return policy outlined below. Because we sell so many different types of items, our return policy varies by item. Please read below to learn about the return policy for the item(s) you're interested in.



BABY CHICKS, JUVENILE CHICKENS AND FERTILE HATCHING EGGS


CANCELLATIONS - BABY CHICKS & FERTILE HATCHING EGGS - $10:

Baby chick and fertile hatching egg orders can be canceled if the scheduled shipping date is more than 2 weeks away, and the Cancellation Fee is $10. Refunds will not include the $10 order change fee, as that defrays costs incurred in changing your order.

To cancel your order, simply phone us at 888-460-1529 or email us at info@mypetchicken.com. Be sure to provide your order number so we can process your transaction more quickly.

A local farm or feed supply store should be willing to take the chick or eggs for you, or you may be able to sell them through a venue like Craigslist or Eggbid.com.)


CHANGES - BABY CHICKS, FERTILE HATCING EGGS & JUVENILE BIRDS - $10:

If you wish to add or remove chicks, hatching eggs, or change your baby chick or juvenile chicken ship date, we are happy to do it, and the non-refundable Change Fee is $10.

To change your order, call 888-460-1529, at least two weeks prior to your scheduled ship date to qualify. It's important that you phone rather than email us, because we will need to collect your credit card information, and email is not a secure medium for sending that information.

(If you cannot notify us at least two weeks prior to your scheduled ship date, don't panic! Our customers have had a lot of success finding a home for their chick with a sympathetic local farm, feed supply store, or 4-H club. You can also try a post on Craigslist.)


CANCELLATIONS - JUVENILE BIRDS - $10:

Juvenile bird orders can be canceled if the scheduled shipping date is more than 2 weeks away, and the Cancellation Fee is $10. Refunds will not include the $10 order change fee, as that defrays costs incurred in changing your order.

BABY CHICKS - 100% LIVE ARRIVAL GUARANTEE:

We guarantee healthy, live chicks and started pullets. We will offer a refund, replacement, or give credit toward any bird that you properly cared-for but died within 48 hours of arrival, provided you notify My Pet Chicken of any losses, by email or phone, within 48 hours of arrival, as follows:

In the event that fewer than half the chicks in an order are lost, through no fault of your own, and reported as required above, My Pet Chicken will refund your credit card for the cost of the chick. Alternatively, you may choose to have a free chick of equal or lesser value on a future order. If you opt for a free chick on a future order, you agree that you pay for shipping as well as enough additional chicks to meet their safe minimum on that future order, in accordance with My Pet Chicken's "safe minimum" policies. In no instance will My Pet Chicken reimburse for an amount greater than the cost of the lost chicks. Regardless of which option you choose, My Pet Chicken does not refund any part of shipping costs. Once My Pet Chicken has either reshipped or refunded customer as above, My Pet Chicken's obligation with regard to the lost chicks is ended.

In the event that half or more than half of the chicks ordered are lost, through no fault your own, and reported as required above, My Pet Chicken will send a free replacement shipment, if the same breeds/varieties are available, or equivalent chicks with your approval. You will not be responsible for shipping costs on the reshipment. However: if the number of chicks lost is too few to meet the "safe minimum" in accordance with My Pet Chicken's policies, you must pay for enough additional chicks to satisfy that safe minimum in order to qualify for a free replacement shipment. If you do not want a reshipment, you may choose either a refund for the cost of the lost chicks and pro-rated shipping OR an equal number of free equivalent replacement chicks in a future order. If a refund is chosen, My Pet Chicken will reimburse the cost of the chicks plus pro-rated shipping. If you choose to have free equivalent replacement chicks in a future order you will be responsible for shipping.

In the event that an entire order of chicks is lost, through no fault of your own, and reported to us as required above, you may opt for a free reshipment of the same or equivalent chicks, if available or, alternatively, you may opt for a full refund of the chick portion of your order, including the chick shipping cost. In no instance will My Pet Chicken reimburse for an amount greater than the lost cost of the chicks plus the flat-rate chick shipping fee. My Pet Chicken's obligation with regard to the chick portion of your order is ended with the refund as above.

In the event that chicks are lost on a full or partial reshipment, through no fault of your own, and reported to My Pet Chicken as required above, My Pet Chicken will refund the cost of the lost chicks only or, in the case of a second entire lost shipment, will refund the cost of the entire lost order. In no instance will the refund exceed the amount paid for the lost chicks. In either case, My Pet Chicken's obligation with regard to the lost chicks is then ended.

My Pet Chicken reserves the right to require verification of any and all losses.


BABY CHICKS - SEXING GUARANTEE:

STANDARD (NON-BANTAM) SEXING ERRORS, if more than 10% of the total number of chicks purchased:

Provided you notify My Pet Chicken (by email or by phone) when your non-bantam chickens are between the ages of 10 and 17 weeks:

On large fowl (standard) sexing errors in excess of 10% of the total number of chicks purchased, My Pet Chicken will refund the cost in full for the mis-sexed baby chick, and may also offer a free, equivalent chick on a future safe-minimum order (shipping not included), at My Pet Chicken's discretion. While the free chick offer does not have an expiration date as long as My Pet Chicken is selling day-old baby chicks, it is only intended as a good faith gesture and cannot be redeemed by any other means. If you do not make a future day-old baby chick order with My Pet Chicken, My Pet Chicken's obligation is ended with the cost difference refund as above.

Silkie bantam errors of more than 10% of the total number of chicks purchased: notify My Pet Chicken, by email to info@mypetchicken.com or by phone, when your chicks are between the ages of 19 and 29 weeks.

Non-Silkie bantam errors of more than 10% of the total number of chicks purchased: notify My Pet chicken, by email to info@mypetchicken.com when your chicks are between the ages of 10 and 17 weeks:

Provided you notify My Pet Chicken as above when your bantam chickens are between the ages of 10 and 17 weeks if they are any breed except Silkies; however, if your bantams are Silkies, provided you notify My Pet Chicken when they are between the ages of 19 and 29 weeks:

On bantam sexing errors in excess of 10% of the total number of chicks purchased, My Pet Chicken will refund the cost in full for the mis-sexed baby chick, and may also offer a free, equivalent chick on a future safe-minimum order (shipping not included), at My Pet Chicken's discretion. While the free chick offer does not have an expiration date as long as My Pet Chicken is selling day-old baby chicks, it is only intended as a good faith gesture and cannot be redeemed by any other means. FERTILE HATCHING EGGS GUARANTEES:

We guarantee that the fertile hatching eggs you ordered will arrive intact and ready for incubation. If any eggs arrive cracked or broken, you must contact us within 2 business days of receiving them in order to receive a credit or re-shipment. We are not liable for the condition of any free eggs which we've included with your order.

IMPORTANT: we do not, under any circumstance, guarantee that your eggs will hatch! Even experienced poultry keepers with high-end hatching equipment often have mixed hatching success.


OTHER GUARANTEES

CHICKEN COOP BUILDING PLANS:
All of our Chicken Coop Building Plans, or blueprints, come with a 30-day money-back guarantee. If for any reason you are not satisfied with the plans, let us know within thirty (30) days of receipt by calling 888.460.1529, and we will promptly refund your purchase in full.


EGLU OR EGLU CUBE COOPS:
If for any reason you're unsatisfied with your purchase of an Eglu or Eglu "Cube"chicken coop, we provide a 30-day money-back guarantee. Just get in touch with us within 30 days of your original purchase date and we'll refund your money in full.


GENERAL RETURNS & CANCELLATIONS

Return policy for items not called out above:

UNDAMAGED ITEMS

If you've changed your mind or are unsatisfied with the items you've purchased, you may return them within 30 days for a full refund, minus our cost to ship the item to you and minus your cost to ship the item back to us. Simply phone us at 888.460.1529 to let us know you're unhappy with the items, and we'll give you instructions to return the items. Once we have the items and deemed them fit for resale, we'll promptly refund you in full.


DAMAGED ITEMS

If any of your items arrived damaged, you must let us know within four (4) business days of receipt by calling 888.460.1529. We will either:
- Refund you in full or in part, depending on the extent of the damage;
- Replace your product with another of equal or greater value;
- Send you free, replacement parts (especially in the case of a chicken coop damaged in shipment).

Note: we may require photographic proof of damage, or we may require that you return the item to us for inspection, at our cost.


GENERAL CANCELLATIONS

If you've purchased non-live items and changed your mind before anything has shipped, we are happy to cancel your order, and there is a $5 Cancellation Fee. (Non-live items include anything but baby chicks, started pullets or fertile hatching eggs, which have their own unique cancellation policies.) Simply phone us at 888.460.1529 to let us know you'd like to cancel your order. Be sure to have your order number handy for the fastest processing.

If your item is already en route, you will be responsible for the full amount of the shipping.


COOPS & CUSTOMIZED COOPS

Customized Coops - Orders of coops with customizable options may not be canceled after three business days from the date on which the order has been placed. Requests for cancellation of any customizable coop order: (1) must be made in the manner specified in (2) below, within three business days of the date on which Customer's customized coop order was placed; and (2) must be made by Customer email sent to, and received by, info@mypetchicken.com, refunds@mypetchicken.com or by fax sent to, and received by My Pet Chicken at 1-877-577-7262. For any customized coop orders that My Pet Chicken, in its sole discretion, allows to be canceled, a restocking fee equal to 15% of the item price will be assessed and withheld from Customer's refund.

Coops (unless otherwise noted on the web page) - If you cancel your order before the coop leaves our warehouse, we'll refund you all but a $5 cancellation fee. If you'd like to cancel your order after it has left the warehouse, or return it once it has arrived to you, you'll be responsible for shipping costs both ways, in addition to a 15% restock fee that will be assessed and withheld from the refund.
