Golden Lakenvelders are beautiful with black-on-golden markings, white skin and slate colored legs. When translated from the Dutch “Lakenvelder” is reported to mean “shadow on a sheet."  The Golden variety is very rare in the US, so these birds will be admired greatly at shows!

The Golden Lakenvelder attracts a lot of attention. They are good, dependable producers of small or medium white to tinted eggs. This rare breed--even rarer than the Silver--is a non-setter. They are quite small at maturity, and very quick and active with a tendency to avoid human contact. Even so, they are an entertaining and fun little bird to watch in the yard, with hens reaching only 3 to 4 pounds.  Flyers, they can often clear fences, although they do adapt well to confinement. They are also economical eaters and forage well.

The chicks hatched from these eggs will potentially be very nice for exhibition. The eggs are from breeder quality stock and excellent lines.
