Everything you need to know about how and when your order will ship.

At My Pet Chicken, we want you to feel confident and excited about every order you place. Whether you're adding new birds to your flock or stocking up on supplies, we work hard to ship your order quickly and safely.

Order Processing

Most orders are processed within 1–2 business days, unless otherwise noted on the product page. Orders are packed and shipped Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. During especially busy times of year, processing times may be slightly longer.

Live birds and hatching eggs ship during the shipment week selected at checkout. Once your order ships, you'll receive an email with tracking information so you can follow your package on its way to you.

Shipping Rates

Live bird and hatching egg shipping information is listed in the sections below. Live bird rates include the USPS live animal handling surcharge.

Non-live product shipping charges are calculated at checkout based on:

  • Package weight
  • Package size
  • Shipping destination

Carriers calculate shipping charges using the greater of the package's actual weight or dimensional (DIM) weight.

Some products qualify for Free Shipping and will be clearly labeled on the product page. When purchased on their own, these items ship at no cost. If combined with other items in your cart, standard shipping rates may still apply to the remaining products.

Standard Shipping

Most non-live products ship via economy ground shipping and typically arrive within 5–7 business days after shipment. Orders may arrive in separate packages.

Delivery timelines are estimates and may vary based on carrier performance, weather, and seasonal shipping volume.

Shipping Live Birds

Live poultry requires special packaging and expedited shipping to ensure your birds arrive safely and healthy. These shipments travel via USPS Priority Mail or USPS Priority Mail Express and typically arrive within 1–3 business days after shipment due to special handling requirements.

Delivery timelines may occasionally vary. In many cases, your local post office will hold live bird shipments for pickup and will contact you when your birds arrive. Shipments are prepared based on weather and travel conditions and may include heat packs, additional bedding, or food or hydration supplements at our discretion. 

All rates below include the USPS live animal handling surcharge.

Seasonal Minimum Order Sizes

  • Spring (April – November): 3 baby chicks minimum
  • Winter (December – March): 8 baby chicks minimum

Winter minimums help keep your chicks warm and safe during colder shipping conditions.

Alaska & Hawaii: Rates are higher and adjust based on order size. Your exact rate will be shown at checkout.

Hawaii orders: A state permit is required. Please allow 2–3 weeks of lead time and use a physical street address — P.O. boxes cannot be accepted.

Ducklings, Goslings, Guinea Fowl & Turkeys

Quantities shown are number of birds per order.

Mixed orders of ducklings, goslings, keets, and poults must meet the minimum for each bird type and will ship together.

Please note: Waterfowl (except Muscovy), turkey poults, and guinea fowl cannot be shipped to Hawaii.

Pullets (6–8 Week Juvenile Chickens)

Pullets have a minimum order of 2 birds. Shipping is calculated at checkout based on your shipping destination and the number of birds in your order.

Shipping Restrictions

We are not currently able to ship live birds to Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, or Guam.

Hatching Eggs

Hatching eggs ship via USPS Priority Mail from select trusted farms across the country, and shipping costs are calculated at checkout based on order size and farm location. Eggs are gathered fresh and ship Monday–Saturday during the week selected at checkout, with our flocks' cooperation.

All hatching egg orders have a minimum order size of 6 eggs.

Because eggs from different farms ship separately, ordering eggs from the same farm location is the easiest way to save on shipping. The shipping farm is noted on each product page and in your cart so you can plan your order accordingly.

Hatching eggs typically arrive within 3–5 business days after shipment.

Shipping Locations

We ship to most locations within the United States. Some products — particularly live poultry — may have state or local shipping restrictions noted on the product page.

My Pet Chicken partners with trusted hatcheries and farms across the country to provide the best selection of healthy birds and fertile eggs. Additionally, our non-live products ship from multiple locations. If your order includes multiple items, they may arrive in separate shipments with separate tracking numbers.

Tracking Your Order

When your order ships, you'll receive a tracking number by email and/or text message based on your notification preferences at checkout. If you don't see your shipping confirmation, please check your spam or promotions folder.

Shipping Delays

Shipping times can occasionally be affected by:

  • Weather conditions
  • Carrier delays
  • High seasonal order volume
  • Postal service disruptions

Once a package has shipped, delivery timing is in the hands of the carrier.

Address Accuracy

Please double-check your shipping address before placing your order. Customers are responsible for providing a complete and accurate address. If an order is returned due to an incorrect or incomplete address, additional shipping charges may apply for reshipment.
