BuckeyeBuckeyes are an endangered breed worth preserving! They are the only chicken breed of the American Class to have been developed by a woman (Nettie Metcalf in -- you guessed it! -- Ohio). Their coloring is a rich mahogany brown with dark gray tips on their tail feathers. Their relatively large size and small pea combs make them hardy in the winter. They are largely docile -- and reportedly very good mousers! Origins/History: American Large Fowl & Bantam Heavy (7-8 lbs) Rare Dual Just one variety.
