Mile Four Grit is made from 100% natural quartzite, a hard, pure rock that helps grind food efficiently in the gizzard. With no additives or fillers, it’s a simple, effective way to support strong shells, healthy digestion, & happy chickens.

Frequently Asked Questions

Chicks eating only starter crumble or pellets don't need grit yet. Their feed is already finely ground and easy to digest on its own. Once you start offering treats or anything other than starter, set out some chick grit in a small separate dish so they can take what they need.
Yes, even birds that go outside benefit from having grit available. When chicks start foraging, they may pick up small stones, but you can't count on outdoor soil to always have the right size grit. Keep a dish near the feeder and refill weekly so they always have access.
Grit and oyster shell are two different things. This grit is made from crushed quartzite, which helps grind food in the gizzard but doesn't dissolve or add calcium. Once your hens start laying, put out oyster shell separately so they have a reliable calcium source for strong eggshells.
