    Frequently Asked Questions

Hot weather is the most popular time - electrolytes help your flock stay hydrated and handle the heat. It's also great during any stressful stretch: new birds joining the flock, a seasonal change, or recovery after illness. Follow the three-days-on, two-weeks-off schedule as your baseline, or add it to the water more regularly if you prefer.
For most backyard keepers with fewer than a dozen hens, the quart is a good starting point. One quart treats 192 gallons of water, so on the three-days-on schedule it'll last a long while, and you can see how your flock responds before committing to a larger size. Bigger flocks or those who use it continuously tend to get more value from the gallon or 2.5-gallon.
Yes. Hen Helper supports feather regrowth and helps your flock recover from the stress that molting puts on their bodies. Running through the three-days-on cycle a few times during a heavy molt is a good way to give them extra support.
