This classic chicken coop is handcrafted by the Amish in Lancaster County, PA, using high quality materials. Each coop is made to order! The pressure-treated base and flooring will keep termites, carpenter ants and rot at bay. The siding is exterior-grade, painted or stained with Woodwright brand, oil-based stain. All half-inch hardware cloth wire over and air vents is coated in black vinyl.
Five-eighths inch ACQ pressure-treated plywood flooring comes standard with your purchase, or you can upgrade to an epoxy floor. The epoxy floor is durable, easy to clean, and 100% moisture resistant. It has a smooth brown finish.
(The coop legs and runners are also made from ACQ pressure-treated wood to stand up to termites and the elements.)
All hinges and locks are zinc plated and painted black. The entry door has a keyed lock handle. The chicken door has a latch that can be latched in the open or closed position. The chicken door latch can be locked in place with a Master Lock or a Clip (not included).
There are 15 paint colors and 5 stain colors to choose from. Two colors are included with your purchase, so you can choose one color for the siding and another for the trim, at no extra cost.
If you've chosen Duratemp siding for your coop, you’ll need to choose a paint color; if you've chosen either Pine Tongue & Groove or Pine Board & Batten siding, you'll need to choose stain colors. We use a high-end line of paint originating out of Lancaster County, PA, that has been in production for more than 100 years. Our stain brand is Woodwright, a unique line of quality oil-based stains made in Ohio.
Three double-hung, slide-up windows comes with your purchase, for ventilation and to add plenty of light. The windows are 24” wide and 27” high.
Standard wire or 1/2" x 1/2" wire mesh can be added over the windows for extra protection against smaller predators and pests.
You will receive white window frames and muntins if you select the painted Duratemp siding; if you choose the Stained Pine Tongue & Groove or Board & Batten style siding, you will receive dark brown window frames and muntins. If you would prefer something different, please indicate this in the "Order Notes" section of the online checkout process.
Asphalt shingles come standard with your purchase, and you can choose from five shingle colors. The shingle roof has an aluminum drip edge to keep water from rotting the roof sheathing. If you don't like asphalt shingles or you want to match your house, you may choose "custom" asphalt shingles or you may upgrade to either a metal or a cedar shake roof.
Regardless of the style you choose, your roof will include OLP Tech Shield Roof Sheathing: a thin, durable layer of aluminum laminated to OSB roof sheathing, which creates a highly effective radiant barrier. This radiant barrier helps to block heat from entering the coop and it will keep the coop cooler in warm weather.
The asphalt shingles are Timberline HD Architectural Shingles and they have a 30-year warranty. The metal roofing is AB Martin Brand and they also have a 30-year warranty.
You can add two gable vents (not shown) to your coop. The ventilation slot is covered on the inside with sturdy half-inch vinyl coated black hardware cloth wire, to keep out wildlife. These provide plenty of ventilation, which is essential to avian health.
A cupola is another way to improve ventilation while elevating the look of the coop. Choose between a shed-style cupola or a board and batten cupola with a copper top. Both options improve airflow by drawing warm air upward through the roof while adding a charming, finished appearance.
Weathervanes are offered in rooster, horse, or eagle designs, in a black or copper finish. Each one adds a distinctive, traditional accent to the coop and serves as a functional way to track wind direction.
If your coop is placed in an area of your yard with electricity nearby, consider the electrical package! You can purchase either the basic electrical package, or the electrical package with a heated roost. The basic electrical package includes an interior light fixture and light switch, an outlet with two receptacles, and it comes with an extension cord hookup to attach to your primary electricity source. The receptacles can be used to plug in your heated waterer (not included) or your optional auto chicken door or heated roost if you so choose.
One wooden roosting bar that runs the length of the coop--and you may select the optional electrical package with heated roost! Talk about luxury. The heated roost is plugged into the receptacle provided by the electrical package, and it’s heated from within by a heated rope, which is completely sealed for safety.
Your chicken coop comes standard with a small, 9-¼” wide x 12” high, latched wooden door for you to open and close to let your chickens in and out of their coop. If you prefer, you can upgrade to the automatic door. (We feel it’s one of the best investments you can make!) Learn about the various automatic door choices, here.
If you’re a stickler about your coop being clean, you can purchase the optional “clean out lid” to give you better access to the coop floor for ease of cleaning. And the “clean out lid” can be ordered with a tray that pulls out to make cleaning even easier. The tray is made of a 2x3 frame and a seamless poly sheet.
Another option is to order the epoxy flooring and use the larger access door to rake or sweep the waste out of the coop or you can use the epoxy flooring in combination with the “clean out lid”. The epoxy floor will allow you to remove the waste and clean the floor more easily. It is durable, easy to clean and 100% moisture resistant. The flooring has a smooth brown finish.
You can also choose the deep litter option, which lets you build up layers of bedding over time instead of removing all the old bedding often. As the bedding breaks down, it creates compost that’s great for your garden. Choosing the deep litter option removes open space beneath the coop by adding a 12" deep base. If wheels are added, the base adjusts to 8" deep to maintain mobility while still supporting composting. You can also pair the deep litter option with the epoxy floor for even easier cleanup and better moisture protection.
Aluminum steps provide a sturdy, rust-resistant way to reach the coop’s entry door. Made from lightweight aluminum, they are durable and low-maintenance.
An insulated ceiling helps keep the coop cooler in summer and warmer in winter, creating a more comfortable environment for your chickens year-round.
Two gable vents can be added to increase airflow inside the coop, supporting a healthy environment for the flock.
Wire panels under the coop can be used to close in the space beneath the structure, extending the run area under the coop for additional space.
Roll away nest boxes allow eggs to roll into a covered collection area after being laid, helping to keep them clean and reducing the risk of breakage.
A 2'W x 4'L x 42"H feed bin is available to place beside the coop, keeping feed and bedding close at hand. It holds two bags of feed and one bag of shavings, and helps keep supplies secure from rodents. The feed bin can be finished to match the henhouse with the same paint or stain and trim.
If you want to be able to move your chicken coop around the yard, you may opt to add our Wheel Lift Lever Kit. This kit will allow you to provide a fresh grazing area for your chickens, not to mention help you "spread the love" (poop) around. By turning the crank, you will lower the wheels to the ground and raise your coop on that end. Then you can use the wooden wheelbarrow handles on the opposite end of the coop to lift and push the coop to your desired location. Then just turn the crank to lower your coop to the ground again -- the wheels will lift up and out of the way. The wooden wheelbarrow handles (not shown) will only be added to your coop if you order the wheel lift lever kit.

While we make every effort to ensure the product you purchase meets your expectations, the actual product may differ slightly from images and renderings shown due to enhancements and/or modifications made at the discretion of the manufacturer.
If you aren’t satisfied with your purchase, you may return your coop within thirty days of receipt for a full refund, less the cost of return shipping.
There is a 10-year limited warranty on the coops. This warranty covers structural problems should they occur, assuming the coop was properly maintained.
Each coop is made to order. Please allow up to 5-7 weeks for delivery.
Standard delivery provides for the coop to be delivered to the end of your driveway--and you will be responsible for moving it to the ideal location in your yard. Or, provided there is easy accessibility for the truck driver (for example, a 10' wide opening where a smaller truck can get into your yard), your driver can place your coop wherever you like for a fee of $600.00.
