Description:
Don't have the time, equipment or inclination to care for chicks? Or were you ready for fresh eggs yesterday? This is the tickets! At 6-7 weeks old, these started pullets are ready to go outdoors, with no heat or special care requirements. Another wonderful benefit is that our juveniles are sexed twice, once at hatch and again at 6 weeks, which reduces your chance of ending up with roosters! Our six-week started pullets are floor-raised and socialized with humans, vaccinated for Marek's disease, and their beaks are intact--we never trim.
Developed in the Andalucia region of Spain, Andalusians are closely feathered, active and good layers of large white eggs. Their color and perky nature make them a great addition to any backyard flock. (They love to forage, so don't purchase them if you plan to keep your flock confined.)
Due to the genetics of the blue plumage color, these BBS Andalusians will hatch out with plumages of Blue, Black, or Splash (a white or pale color with "splashes" of darker grey or black feathers as seen in the photo). When breeding blue to blue, you end up with a mix of 50% blue, 25% black and 25% splash. However, in our breeding pen we have lots of blue and splash breeders, so your plumage ratio will lean much more toward blue and splash, with fewer black.
All Started Pullets are shipped USPS Express Mail.
Please keep your 6-week-olds quarantined from your existing flock for four or more weeks, and take care when introducing them.
These pullets will be vaccinated for Marek's disease and will be approximately 6-8 weeks old when shipped.
