Description:

Don't have the time, equipment or inclination to care for chicks? Or were you ready for fresh eggs yesterday? This is the tickets! At 6-7 weeks old, these started pullets are ready to go outdoors, with no heat or special care requirements. Another wonderful benefit is that our juveniles are sexed twice, once at hatch and again at 6 weeks, which reduces your chance of ending up with roosters. Our six-week started pullets are floor-raised and socialized with humans, vaccinated for Marek's disease, and their beaks are intact--we never trim.

As the name suggests, we've bred a Silked White Easter Egger! This cross is new, and exclusive to MPC. It is the result of many years of selective breeding across multiple generations. Your bird has a 50% chance of hatching out with silked feathers, 50% with smooth feathers, and 100% will be great layers! They will have a random combination of muffs, beards and crests, and their skin will be either slate green or black in color. They will also have feathered legs and feet, varying from lightly to heavily feathered. The mature hens will lay blue eggs.

While Silked Easter Egger chicks hatch out different colors, they all end up white – imagine that! You may be wondering about their size since there's Silkie blood in their genes, but since this is a multi-generational project, we've had the time to breed for size. The mature birds will be the same size as a typical Easter Egger, with hens weighing around 3-1/2 lbs. This breed will also tend to be broody, if you're looking for a great mama!

This variety is a custom cross, bred exclusively for My Pet Chicken. On average, 15/16 pullets will lay blue eggs when they mature.

All 6 week old Started Pullets are shipped USPS Express Mail. These pullets will be vaccinated for Marek's disease and will be 6-8 weeks old when shipped.

Please keep your 6-week-olds quarantined from your existing flock for four or more weeks, and take care when introducing them.
