Description:

Did you know hawks eat chickens? And wild songbirds can give your flock diseases. Keep them out by draping your chicken run with netting. Our aviary netting is made of durable fibers and will stay in terrific shape for years. (Just don’t use for the sides of pens - predators can chew through it!) This is for our "Heavy Knotted Net" specifically designed to last 8 to 12 years and has an 85 lb breaking point. Can be fastened to surfaces with staples, nails or hog rings. Use the "weave size" pull down to select either our tighter 1" weave or the larger, less expensive 2" weave.

The aviary net is made of HDPE – High Density Poly Ethylene.

*Please note: we do not have a storefront and orders cannot be picked up from our location.

Product weight:
1" weave, 66 lbs
2" weave  25 lbs

Frequently Asked Questions

This netting is for aerial predators like hawks and wild birds — it's not a reliable barrier against climbing or chewing mammals. Most animals won't quickly chew through it from above, but it's not the right choice for the sides of your run since determined predators can eventually get through it. For ground-level and perimeter protection, hardware cloth is what you want.
A center post works great. Screw a 2-3 foot 2x4 horizontally to the top of a 4x4 post to make a T-shape, then set the post in the middle of your run area. The netting drapes over the T-bar and fans out to your fence line — same concept as pitching a tent with a center pole. Secure the edges with staples, nails, or hog rings.
Heat isn't usually the issue — HDPE handles high temperatures well, and one of our staff runs this netting through south Georgia summers (100°F+) without problems. The bigger concern is fall and winter debris. Leaves and snow that pile up add weight and create pulling tension, so clear it off periodically. The spots where you've anchored the netting are where wear tends to show first — worth checking a few times a year.
