The Ground Chicken Coop by Nestera is available in small and large sizes. The small-size coop makes a perfect entry-level coop or is ideal for islolating a sick or broody hen. The ground access with and included ramp also makes the large or small size coop perfect for Silkie chickens or waterfowl.

This backyard chicken coop is made of 100% recycled plastic with a nearly zero waste process. The smooth recycled plastic makes the interior of the coop easy to clean with nothing more than a quick hose down, and it dries in moments.  

The large-size Nestera Ground Chicken Coop is made from the equivalent of 2,000 recycled plastic shampoo bottles. That's a lot of plastic being taken out of circulation. One more way to live a sustainable lifestyle with chickens!

When cleaning this plastic chicken coop, the smooth surfaces inside means a quick hose down is all it takes. Any stubborn dirt or droppings can easily be removed with a brush. The modular design also allows the coop to be taken apart and reassembled in minutes for deep cleaning. Unlike wood, this plastic coop dries quickly.

Predator Protection

These "chew resistant" coops are made from 3/8th thick 100% recycled plastic which is tough! The rear door is lockable, and the front door is reinforced with a rotating metal slide, which makes it difficult to open by lifting, unlike a classic vertical sliding door.

Removable Droppings tray (optional)

These durable dropping trays are made of 0.09" thick ABS recycled plastic, therefore, making cleaning easy! There are two easy-to-handle trays that slide in and out from the coop's large rear door. 

The Small Ground Chicken Coop will need the small tray kit: 1 x square tray.

The Large Ground Chicken Coop will need a large tray kit: 3 x rectangular trays.

Most people successfully assemble their Nestera coop in under an hour. You needn't be a DIY expert to put this coop together. 

Do plastic chicken coops get cold in the winter and hot in the summer? 

The plastic used to make Nestera coops is 100% recycled, which we have found to be an excellent material for chicken coops. In the winter, the required ventilation means the temperature inside the coop will be similar to the ambient air temperature outside.

However, chickens tolerate the cold as their feathers provide good insulation. During the warmer summer months, the solid UV-resistant roof reflects the sun's heat well, keeping your chickens cool and comfortable.

We cannot ship this product to Hawaii or Alaska.

Product returns: 

If your coop has been significantly damaged in shipment, please report the damages to us within 48 hours of arrival if possible. We ask that you send pictures of the damage so we can best determine the following steps to be taken.

Returns are 100% covered within 30 days of receipt for unassembled coops, and a free return label will be provided. Just contact us, and we'll provide return instructions.
