Similar to our best-selling classic layer mash, this formula is enhanced with extra niacin to help prevent growth deformities. This feed is designed for adult ducks who have reached the point of lay. For most laying ducks, yes. The calcium carbonate in this feed is there to cover shell-building needs through the laying season. If you do notice thin-shelled or shell-less eggs, a small dish of oyster shell offered free-choice lets your ducks take what they need on their own. Most won't touch it if the feed is doing its job.
Not as their main feed, no. The extra calcium that laying ducks need isn't good for drakes long-term, and their kidneys aren't built to handle it. If you have drakes in the flock, the cleanest setup is feeding them separately with a duck grower while the layers eat this.
Yes. Ducks need more niacin than chickens, and this feed has it built in for exactly that reason. Running your ducks on chicken layer long-term can leave them niacin-short, even if everything looks fine on the surface. A separate duck feed is the easy fix.
