Description:

The Exchequer Leghorn is a striking spin on the classic White Leghorn, with roots tracing back to a serendipitous discovery in Scotland. When a flock of White Leghorns began producing unusually patterned offspring, their owner took notice—and the Exchequer variety was born. The name pays tribute both to their economic value as prolific layers and to their distinctive black-and-white, checkered feathers.     

These birds are excellent layers of large white eggs, keeping pace with their White Leghorn cousins in productivity. Their mottled plumage makes them true standouts in the flock, while their energetic personalities and low broodiness make them ideal for active, high-output flocks. Like all Leghorns, Exchequers handle heat well, but their large combs can be prone to frostbite in colder climates.

Pullet Shipping Information

  • All Started Juveniles are shipped USPS Priority Mail Express.
  • Due to import regulations, we cannot ship to Iowa, West Virginia, Texas, Hawaii, or Nevada.
  • Pullets will ship on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday of the designated shipping week. You will receive an email with tracking information once they leave the farm.
