Description:

The White Cochin is a vision of elegance and fluff—a walking snowball with feathers from head to toe! Originating from China and once treasured by royalty, Cochins bring old-world charm and gentle presence to any backyard flock. With their full, rounded shape and soft white plumage, they look like they’ve stepped straight out of a Victorian painting.

But don’t let the fancy feathers fool you—these birds are sweet-natured, calm, and wonderfully cuddly. They're known for their docile temperament, making them ideal for families, first-time chicken keepers, or anyone who enjoys a little chicken companionship. Cochins move slowly, often waddling like feathered marshmallows, and are content to meander about the yard.

Though not the most prolific layers, White Cochins lay medium brown eggs at a relaxed pace and are excellent mothers if allowed to go broody. Their thick feathering keeps them cozy in cold climates, though in wet weather, their fluff can use a little extra care.

Benefits of Purchasing Pullets

  • Started pullets are an excellent option for people who don't have the time, equipment, or desire to care for chicks.
  • These juvenile chicks are sexed twice, once at hatch and again at six weeks old, which reduces your chance of ending up with roosters.
  • The minimum order is just 2 chicks!

Additional Pullet Information

  • These pullets will be vaccinated for Marek's disease and MG (Mycoplasma gallisepticum)
  • Our six-week started pullets are floor-raised and socialized with humans, and their beaks are intact--we never trim.
  • Please keep your 6-week-olds quarantined from your existing flock for four or more weeks, and take care when introducing them.
  • Check out our Started Pullets Care Guide.
