It stays put. The extra-thick construction sits firmly on the nest box floor, so hens can't toss it around the way they scatter loose bedding. You get a consistently lined box at collection time rather than a bare corner with shavings piled outside.
Most commercial nest boxes for standard breeds run 11 to 12 inches square, so it drops right in. If your box runs slightly smaller, the turf cuts cleanly with household scissors. For boxes larger than 12 inches, you would need more than one liner to cover the floor.
