Three nesting boxes are plenty for a flock of up to 12 or 15 hens. The general rule is one box for every four or five birds. Hens tend to have favorite spots and will often pile into the same one or two regardless of how many are available, so three compartments gives a medium-sized flock more than enough options.
Yes. The 12-inch width and height in each compartment meets the recommended minimum for standard breeds and also works for larger birds like Cochins and Buff Orpingtons. Bantams will find it roomy but will use it just fine.
