The droppings tray keeps the coop consistently cleaner and makes sanitizing much easier. Just slide the tray out, compost the small amount of bedding and droppings, and slide it back in. Deep litter creates more warmth in winter and produces great compost over time, but it requires more bedding depth, more labor when you finally clean it out, and makes treating for mites harder since you have to clear everything. The droppings tray is the better choice if low-maintenance daily cleanliness is your priority.
Match the tray size to your coop size: the Small tray (one square tray) fits the small Nestera coop, the Medium tray (two rectangular trays) fits the medium Nestera coop, and the Large tray (three rectangular trays) fits the large Nestera coop. All three sizes work with the Nestera Ground, Lodge, and Raised coop styles.
They're sold separately. When you order a Nestera coop from us, the droppings trays are not included; they're an add-on accessory you can purchase alongside the coop or any time after.
